Doctors

My doctor's appointment went as well as it could have yesterday. Thankfully he is finally going to try something besides physical therapy and rest (since I only bowled 3 games from middle of May-end of August) and neither of those helped. We are going to try a PRP treatment (a ton of athletes get it done now to help the healing process go faster). Basically they will draw blood from my arm then put it in a machine to separate it and then inject directly into my knee. I am totally ok with them drawing the blood from my arm. The injection into my knee is whats going to kill me. I don't do needles!!!! Hopefully we will get that scheduled by the end of the week (they got to get it preauth through the insurance company because I am not paying $350 out of pocket). We have enough medical bills right now between CJ's radiation treatments, Deqlan's surgery from June & Hayden's surgery from July. Although Deqlan's is almost paid off completely since his was done at a surgery center and not a hospital. Hayden's on the other hand probably won't be paid off til next year at some point.

And on a funny note...my knee was bothering me really bad yesterday morning but not too much when I got to the doctors...and then he started pushing on it...I could barely walk when I left!!!

I have class tonight so I don't get to see the boys go trick-or-treating. This is really Hayden's first year of "getting" it. Last year we were rained out so they didn't get to go. I mean it was pouring and like 35 degrees. It'll be chilly tonight but at least no rain.

I have a paper due Friday that I haven't even had time to start yet and probably won't until Friday afternoon & it's due at 8pm...I don't know how I'm going to get it done! Hopefully I can get home today & get my Spanish homework out of the way and at least start planning it out. Thankfully it's all about my health so it shouldn't be too difficult.

I hope everyone has a great day!! Photobucket

Today

I hope everyone is safe & sound from Hurricane Sandy. I'm too far inland to have seen any real effects of it. But we still are dealing with some wind & rain. I had a great weekend!!! Saturday night we went to my girlfriend Tracy's house for what we are saying will be an annual Halloween party :-) I even got CJ to dress up!!

It was nice to let loose and have a few (or more) drinks. Sunday we went over to visit a new neighbor who was having a housewarming. CJ was at work all day and had league that night so he left at 4am and didn't get home til 9:30pm. Typically I would hate that but with him not home I get so much stuff done for the week!

Today is my appointment with the orthopedic surgeon. I'm already frustrated and I haven't even gone yet. It doesn't help I have a tournament this weekend and have to sub for someone Sunday night which means I will be bowling 12 games in 2 days and 9 on Sunday...I haven't done that since I was 17...Should be interesting!!

I'm going to run to school, go to Hayd's preschool for a fall party, come home, eat, shower & get ready, & then head to my appointment where I will be for who knows how long...I think I'll bring homework with me! I'm supposed to get together with my lab partners tonight to start working on our final project but we will see if that actually happens. I hope you guys had a great weekend!! Photobucket

Randomness

CJ & I both woke up with migraines this morning. Obviously he deals with one every day but this morning was more intense. He tried to call out of work but they had no one to run his route so he just left the house at 7:10-it's a 45 minute drive to work. I'll be lucky if he's home by 7pm. Of course that's assuming he actually works his product and doesn't just drop it off. But we have a party to go to tomorrow night so he has to get home at a reasonable time so he can shower & get ready. He's starting to have more bad days again which makes me really nervous for our follow-up appointment with the oncologist next month. I'm sure I'll have more migraines between now & then as I stress about what we will do next. I keep hoping to get an e-mail from my teacher cancelling class again but I don't think that's going to happen :( Wishful thinking!! We have a new neighbor and I can't wait to meet her! She's only a couple of years younger than me so it'll be nice to have someone my age around. I love my neighbors but they are all older than me. I had one neighbor my age but we were completely different people and just never hit it off. I have a bowling tournament next weekend and I'm hoping my knee holds up for it. I have my appointment with my orthopedic on Tuesday at 3pm...I asked my lab partner if she'll bail me out of jail when I get arrested for punching him in the face...She said of course...That is true love right there LOL!!! We had a class together spring semester that I dropped but we are having so much fun together in Biology. She definitely makes the class entertaining!! I've started looking at classes for next semester and it looks like I won't have to drive to campus every day-which my car will certainly appreciate. All depends on grades this semester & if I keep financial aid. I shot 705 in league last night :-) Games of 266, 226, & 213. I haven't been bowling well this season so far. I think the main reason was not bowling this summer and then of course my knee. The pain was really bad last night but somehow I fought through it. I love bowling. It is my life. Even when I'm not bowling well. It is basically all I know. I have bowled since I was 2 1/2. My entire family bowls (literally my parents, my brother, my husband, my in-laws, & my boys!!) Bowling is actually how I met CJ (well and he was friends with my brother). I used to work in a bowling center-gave them 9 years of my life (4 in high school & 5 after). I recently left them in July to concentrate on school. I miss my co-workers even though I see them every week. But everyone treats me differently now since I left. I'm ready for my Reno trip in May. It's a girls weekend where we go bowling the national tournament that is SUPPOSED to be in different cities every year but we are in Reno for 3 years in a row. Last year, this year, & next year. Just makes it an expensive girls trip. Since I've been going with them we've been to Charlotte (which was a nice short road trip right up the road from home), Detroit, Reno (7 months pregnant & I passed out!), El Paso, Syracuse, & then Reno again. The best trip we've had was El Paso!!! Shockingly enough-we were all dreading that trip!! But we definitely made it entertaining!!
**My friends Nancy, Melissa, & Me** L-R... We drove up the side of a mountain (where we found Jesus) only to discover that that is where a bunch of tourists had been kidnapped by Mexican drug gangs. Needless to say when we saw the warning sign we turned back around. We ended up finding this tunnel in the side of the mountain that had been boarded up. At some point it was a passageway to Mexico. What a random post today!! Have a great day everyone!!! Photobucket

Good day

I found another swap to be a part of.  This morning has started out well.  I actually got up on time (well 30 minutes late but that was CJ's fault this morning since he was just getting up).  And since I was up on time I had time to do my hair and makeup and then my professor just e-mailed us and said class was cancelled :-) I wish class was cancelled tomorrow but beggars can't be choosers :-) I'm excited to have a few hours to myself this morning to get some things done around the house and to get my homework done.  I have a paper due next Friday I need to start and I need to try to get some work done in Psychology to pull that grade up.

My appointment with my orthopedic surgeon is Tuesday.  I'm nervous because I have a feeling it will be the same conversation as last year-loose weight and it will go away.  Well guess what I'm down 30 pounds since last October and have seen no improvement.  I hope he doesn't suggest more physical therapy-I did 3 months worth 3 times a week last year-there are not enough hours in the day for me to go to physical therapy.

I really want an iPad...still haven't made a decision as to what to do.  And I need to decide if I'm going to keep my kindle fire for the kids or sell it and put the money towards the iPad.  One thing is for sure-the kids will not be playing on the iPad :-) Of course we said that when we got our iPhones last year and CJ lets BOTH of them play on his all the time & I let Hayd watch Mickey on YouTube on mine.  We're such suckers.

I need to go make a plan for the day since I can get some stuff done!!! Have a great day!!!

Almost

So glad it is almost the weekend!!! CJ & I are going to a costume party at a good friends house.  I cannot wait...My parents will have the boys for the night.  I'm sure we won't end up staying too late since CJ has to work Sunday.  I have Biology lab tonight for a little bit thankfully we get out early on lab nights!! I need to start thinking about what classes to take next semester-all of it depends on whether or not I get C's in all of my classes so I can keep my financial aid next semester!!

I am currently signed up for 5 different blog swaps :-) Love it!!! I hope you guys enjoy my new layout & design.  I promise I will blog more tomorrow or Friday :-)

Weekend

I had an extra day in my weekend (since I didn't have class Friday) and I still feel like it went by so fast!!! I'm glad I choose to do my midterm interview today, it meant I got to spend the day Friday with my mom which doesn't happen very often anymore.  We ran some errands while both boys were in school & then picked up Deq early (he already had early release) took them to lunch at Chick-fil-a and then took them to the bowling center to pre-bowl for league Saturday.  Deq had his final baseball game of the fall season Friday night.  It really is a shame for coaches to cheat the way that man did.  Seriously who calls a time-out to have a conference with their infield in COACH PITCH.  He was trying to drag out the time-they don't start a new inning after an hour so he was trying to get it to the hour mark so we couldn't come back and win (you can only score 5 runs in an inning).  I can't wait for Deq to move up leagues.  He'll play spring ball in coach pitch and then move up during fall.  They started the season off so strong and then because of rainouts hit the same team 3 times in 5 games (the team with the coach that cheats).  He did stuff like that in every game against us so I can only assume he did that in other games as well.

Saturday Deq had a bowling tournament.  He was disappointed with himself that he didn't bowl as well as he can.  He did good-finished 12th out of 18 and he was the youngest in his group-and he more than likely always will be.

Yesterday I got quite a bit of work done around the house.  Tried to do some homework and then we had to head to the bowling center so CJ and I could bowl.   I don't work there anymore and I still spend all of my freaking time up there!!

I need to call and make an appointment with my orthopedist today.  My knee is getting bad again (I have tendonitis and arthritis in both knees but it is much worse in my left).  I did 4 months of physical therapy last year which did nothing and then he put me on a medication which for a while worked but now I don't see any difference when I take it.  Physical therapy is not an option-there are not enough hours in the day for me to go again.  I was going 2-3 times a week for an hour and a half each time.  I don't even know when or how I'll be able to squeeze a doctors appointment in before Christmas break but I don't know how much longer I can deal with this pain.

I'm going to try to get a bit more studying in before I have to get Hayden up for school.  Have a great Monday!!

XOXO,
Megan

Long Week

I am so glad it's FRIDAY!! No class for me today :-) Didn't get to sleep in though :( We have to be at Deq's school early for a conference this morning & then I get to spend the day with my mom.  I'm looking forward to it.  It's been a long week!

Taking night classes has seriously taken a toll on me.  I underestimated how exhausting it would be to drive back & forth to school twice a day two times a week-when it's a 30 minute drive.  I feel like I live in my car right now! On Mondays & Wednesdays I am in my car for about 3 hours (when I have to do both pick up and drop off for Deqlan).  CJ has been off the last two Wednesdays so I make him do pick up but still.  I can't wait for this semester to be over so I don't spend so much time in my car!!

Speaking of the semester being over-we register for classes the beginning of November and they don't even have the schedule up yet.  How am I supposed to start planning and talk to an adviser (which advisement starts Monday) when I can't look at what classes I can take.  I probably need to take my other English class but I really don't feel like having to write a ton of papers :-) I'm going to put that off as long as I can.  I know I want to take the next Spanish class but it will all depend on when it is offered.  I don't think any of the times they offered it last Spring would work for me.

In any event.  I need to finish getting ready before I get the boys up and ready for school.

There will be some changes coming to the blog in the next week or so and I can't wait :-)

Happy

I got my Biology test grade last night and much to my surprise-I actually passed! I got a D but its much better than my first test grade :-)

Hayden gets to stay at school and eat lunch with his friends so I get an extra half hour before I'll have to pick him up.  I'm hoping to get over to Panera to do some homework and run to Office Max to grab a couple of things before I have to get him.

Deqlan has a baseball game tonight-only two more after tonight! Ready for life to not be so crazy!!

I am ready for this semester to be over! Night classes are killing me-there will be no night classes ever again!!!

Have a great day everyone!!

XOXO,
Megan

Short Weeks

I'm ending up with 3 short weeks of class in a row :-) Two weeks ago Fall Break started so we had Thursday & Friday off.  Last week we were off Monday & Tuesday back on Wednesday.  Deqlan had awards on Friday so I didn't go to class.  This week we have a test Thursday which means we will get out as soon as we are done (about 20 minutes early) and then Friday if we don't have our midterm that day we don't have to go, so I have another Friday off :-) Monday is my midterm and I chose the first slot so I'll be done with class by 10:05!! I don't know what I'll do when I actually have a full week of class!

Tomorrow morning I have to be at school by 8am for a midterm workshop-it is not something I have to do for class and I don't get extra credit but if it will help me prepare for my midterm interview I am all for it.  Of course the workshop is done by 8:50 and my class doesn't start til 10 so I'll have to find something to do...sleep in my car maybe??

Deqlan has three baseball games this week and then we are done with fall ball.  He has enjoyed playing and his team is doing well (5-2) but I am ready for us to be home on Tuesday nights!! Deqlan had a rough week at school last week-I guess he had a hard time adjusting to tracking back in.  I am ready for this school year to be over and him to be back on a traditional calendar.  This momma can't handle two week track-outs.  I thought this school was going to be an amazing fit for Deqlan but we've had nothing but problems.  His teacher basically refuses to challenge him so in turn he is bored and talking or reading when he is not supposed to be.  I am going to see how this week goes and then we will be having a meeting with his teacher.  I wish I could transfer him back to his old school now.

I got so much accomplished this weekend between Friday & Sunday!! Both days I got everything completed off of my to-do list.  Sundays are going to end up being wonderful days to get things done.  As long as CJ has to work that is.  His schedule rotates every 4 weeks and he ends up with 8 Sunday's off in a row-which is a wonderful thing.  But on the Sunday's he does work he won't come home before bowling (he bowls league every Sunday night) which means he leaves the house around 5am and won't get home til 9ish.  Yes it makes for a long day but it gives me ALL DAY to get stuff done! If he's home we're typically very lazy on Sunday's :-)

I need to run and make CJ a to-do list for tonight since I have class and finish getting the boys ready for school.  Have a great day!!!

XOXO,
Megan

Getting things done

I didn't go to class Friday morning (not because I just didn't want to-Deqlan had an awards ceremony at school at 9:30) and I definitely took full advantage of having the day off and a few hours with no kids! I know I just went back to school from fall break but Thursday and Friday Deqlan didn't have school and even though he went back to school on Monday I had errands that I had to get done without the boys.  Needless to say my house needed some attention! After Deqlan's awards ceremony I came home and got to work.  I did a lot of little tasks but it felt good to get a lot of things crossed off my to-do list!

Once I picked up Hayden from school we headed out to run some errands (Bath & Body Works, Barnes & Noble, Ulta, & Target).  We had to go to the mall to get my dad's birthday present so we stopped at Bath & Body Works while we were there.  I got two of their 3-wick candles, a foaming hand soap, a soap cover, a candle holder, & a body wash for $29.  They are running their 2 for $20 candle special again.  I'm hoping to get back over there Monday and get a few more of the winter scents since they have those out as well.  Barnes & Noble was to get my Dad's birthday present-just a gift card but he loves to read so it really is the easiest thing to do! And I picked up a book that I heard about from a YouTuber, "Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy" by Sarah Ban Breathnach.  It is essentially a daily devotional.  There are 366 days (yes she included leap year)! I read Friday's entry and I am hooked already.  I plan on reading this book for many years.  She has other books that go along with it so maybe I'll get those at some point.  I spent entirely too much money at Ulta and hardly got anything.  I am not exactly sure that I will keep all of it.  I got a Stila eye shadow, a Tarte blush, an Anastasia brow pencil, two different Maybelline mascaras, and two highlighters.  Late last week I placed an order for three Sigma brushes and those came in so I am excited to try those.  I already have a list of three more that I want to try if I decide I like these.

The boys and I will be staying home tomorrow to get some more stuff done.  I like to get Deqlan's lunches made for the week on Sunday so I can just grab everything and pack it quickly in the morning.  Hayden gets to stay at school and eat lunch Tuesday & Wednesday this week so I have to make his lunch as well.  I have to get better about using my time at home wisely to keep it clean.  I have tried to get my husband to help out more around the house with keeping it clean and it really isn't working.  Unless I specifically tell him to do something he won't do anything.  It's very frustrating to be in school full-time, get up Monday-Friday at 5am and not get to bed until 11pm at the earliest.  Yes he gets up earlier than I do on his work days but I am running non-stop until I go to bed.  Either running the boys around somewhere or doing homework and trying to get the house picked up.  He is usually in bed by 8:30 which is basically as soon as the boys are in bed.  I am hoping that at some point soon my message gets through to him.  Otherwise I am likely to loose it on him...AGAIN!

I am considering getting an iPad (like this week) but can't decide if I should do it.  I've wanted one for a while but am hesitating because the boys will want to play on it all the time.  If I get one I am only getting the 2...I want one with 3g but I'd have to order that and I am not a patient person :-) Advice???

Polish Swap!

Tales of a TwentySomething

A few weeks ago I joined the Polishaholic Swap and got paired up with Taylor.  We got to know each other and sent each other a few nail polishes :-) I love the colors she sent me!
Essie Wicked, OPI Lincoln Park After Dark, & Dior #221 Or Divin.  I haven't had a chance to use any of them yet but as soon as I paint my nails this weekend I am sure I will pick one of them.  Probably the Dior color (it's a light gold) since it's going to be a little bit warmer again next week.  I can't wait for it to stay cooler for a while & rock my new dark polishes :-) Thanks Taylor for the awesome stuff!!!

CJ's Health

**For those of you who may not know, CJ is my husband**

CJ was sick at the age of 14 and ended up spending over a year in the hospital and had multiple surgeries.  In the end they diagnosed him with a disease called cystic angiomatosis.  Which as they were describing it was a cousin to cystic fibrosis.  His ribs were creating a fluid that was eating away at his lungs causing them to continuously collapse.  His surgeries were to attach his lungs to his ribs to keep them from collapsing and to close the space where the fluid was forming.  He was told he would not live to see 30 (he just turned 35 this March).  During this time he was roughly the 100th case EVER diagnosed with this disease so you can imagine how little information there was.

When CJ and I started dating in March of 2004 he was upfront about his illness it was not something that had been an issue for a couple of years.  It was the least of my concerns.

Some of the medications that they had him on when he was sick caused side effects many years later.  One of those being migraines.  In January of 2010 the migraines got worse.  To the point of it was one constant migraine and nothing helped it.  Off to the doctor he went who wanted to refer him to a neurologist but he needed a primary care physician for that referral with the insurance that we had.  So we went to a PCP who decided to do a CT scan before sending us anywhere.  That CT scan showed a tumor on his Pituitary gland.  So the doctor no longer wanted to send us to a neurologist but to a neurosurgeon instead.  Now tumors on the pituitary are not uncommon and they are generally easy to remove (they go thru the nasal cavity).  We met with a wonderful neurosurgeon through Duke Medical Center.  He looked at the CT and said yes there is something there BUT I don't think that is what is causing your issues.  That really isn't what you want to here when someone is looking at a scan of your husband's head!!! He ordered a Flow Study of CJ's brain.  He was concerned about an area towards the base of his skull where it looked like the brain was herniated through the opening of the skull.  The flow study confirmed the doctor's thoughts and scheduled us for surgery.  And we received the official diagnosis of Chiari Malformation I.  Unfortunately we found out of this at the beginning of April and couldn't be scheduled until June 2.  Some of it was due to the doctor's schedule and some was due to ours.

June 2nd approached so quickly and I had to watch my husband be taken away into a major brain surgery.  I am so thankful for my wonderful parents.  My mom came and sat with me while my dad stayed home with both boys (Deqlan was 5 and Hayden was 8 months-and decided to start walking while CJ was in the hospital!!) Thankfully we did the surgery when we did.  When the surgeon came to talk to me he was surprised that CJ's migraines really hadn't gotten any worse because the herniation had.  The first night was spent in the ICU where I wasn't allowed to spend the night with him.  And then he had to spend one night up on the floor and then we were discharged.  It felt good to have him home but I was terrified something would happen.  And for the next 18 months nothing did happen.

I say 18 months but in August of 2011 CJ started having more frequent migraines again so we went to the PCP and they started CJ on a nightly medicine and gave him something to take at the onset of his migraines.  Those seemed to work until December.

Last December things got crazy.  Three days before Christmas CJ had been up all night with a migraine.  He just couldn't get it to go away with any of the medicines he was taking.  Finally about 6am the next day (Dec. 23rd) it went away-we have no clue what finally made it go away.  He went out to do his Christmas shopping for me and then we spent the rest of the day doing things around the house to get ready for the holidays (we spend Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at my parents with the exception of first thing Christmas morning).  We went out to get pizza for dinner and then came home so I could get some appetizers put together.  CJ went upstairs to wrap my presents and I realized he had been in there for awhile.  I went to check on him and all of the lights were off in our room (tell tale sign he has a migraine) and heard the shower running.  When I walked in the bathroom he was on his hands and knees in the shower in tears because the pain had gotten so bad.  I just looked at him and asked if we needed to go the ER and he said yes.  I knew it was bad because he HATES being at the hospital.

I called my parents to come stay with the boys and then my mom decided it would be easier for the boys to stay with them (they only live 4 miles down the road).  So I packed some stuff up for the boys and threw some clothes on me so we were ready to go when my dad got here.  It was after 9:30 at this point.  We went to a smaller emergency room so we would be seen faster-they took us right back thankfully.  It took almost 2 1/2 hours before they found the right combination of pain killers and nausea meds for CJ to actually be comfortable.  I think that was the worse thing of all watching him writhe in pain.  After running a CT and not seeing anything major on it the doctor decided to do a spinal tap on CJ-they needed to rule out any brain bleeds.  The doctor tried three times and could not get any fluid off of his spine-she was so surprised she knew she was in the right spot.  Because it was about 2am on Christmas Eve she decided to transfer us to the big hospital where they could do the spinal tap with an X-Ray.  We finally got to the big hospital about 6am.  His spinal tap ended up taking 3 hours.  While I sat in this little curtain in the emergency room with no tv, an uncomfortable chair, and no outlet to plug my dying cell phone in.  They finally brought him back about 9:30 and we didn't see the doctor til around 10.  She said there was some blood in the tap so she wanted to run another test to make sure there wasn't a bleed and that it was just a traumatic tap.  They ended up having a hard time getting fluid off of him as well.  They finally determined that there was no bleed and that he was just having a severe migraine-mind you that nothing they had given him had made it go away.  We finally got discharged about 12:00 Christmas Eve.  My poor mom was trying to cook dinner while watching both of the boys!! Because of the spinal taps he was ordered to lay flat for 24 hours which meant we were staying at my parents overnight.  Once we got discharged we stopped to grab some lunch and then headed to my moms (who had already got the couch ready for CJ).  Once I had him situated I headed to our house to pack up clothes for us and all of our presents and stockings-well my brother had to come by with his SUV to load up most of the presents :-)

Because all of this happened right before the holidays it was very difficult to get into any doctors quickly.  We ended up going to a neurologist who did a 3 day IV infusion treatment (that was ridiculously expensive) & that didn't work.  Two weeks later I was able to get him into his neurosurgeon-this whole time we were convinced that it was the Chiari & the surgery had failed and he would need another surgery.  CT's & MRI's showed that wasn't necessarily the case.  The neurosurgeon decided we needed another spinal tap to get a pressure reading of CJ's spinal fluid.  The day of the tap the doctor could not get ANY fluid off which gave him a zero reading.  The issue with this was that he had been put on a medication to LOWER his pressure-when he didn't have any!!! The neurosurgeon eventually referred us to a neuroradiologist (the best in the world).  Who was going to do blood patches by myleogram (basically a fancy X-Ray).  She discovered that CJ's bone disease had spread to his back and was the issue for all of his pain.  The disease, which we now know as Gorham's Disease, creates cysts up and down his spine that suck up his spinal fluid.  This disease is what caused his Chiari.  There is no cure for the disease.  He underwent 5 full weeks of radiation treatments and we should know in November *hopefully* if it worked.  We don't know how long he'll be able to work/walk.  It is very possible that he will need back surgery in the near future to replace vertebrae that are deteriorating due to the disease.

I don't write this to make you feel sorry for all that we've been through.  I write this so you know when I write complaining about him being in pain for the umteenth time this has been an incredibly long and hard process.  We still have a lot of unanswered questions and the fact that we don't know how much longer our lives will be normaly

Shopping

My birthday was this past Sunday and I received a gift card to Sephora and some cash.  I went a little crazy shopping on Monday (this is what happens when I go shopping without the kids!!)

To go to Sephora I had to go to the mall that's 35 minutes away instead of the one that's only 20 minutes away so I knew I need to go to stores that I don't normally go to as well while I was there.

I went to Lush first.  I've recently gotten into Lush products (courtesy of MyHousewifeLife on YouTube) and still had quite a few products but decided to go ahead and purchase a few more since it's not convenient.  I got two bath melts (both in Dreamtime) and two different bath bombs (big blue and avobath).  Nothing I got have I tried before.  I can't wait to try my new products.  Of course I haven't had a chance to use the one's I bought last month!!

I stopped in Bath & Body Works.  I was looking for the Warm Apple Cider foaming hand soap but they already have the holiday line out and it's sold out online :-( I still have 3/4 of a bottle but CJ actually likes it-not that he'll use it.  I also got a candle stand for my desk.  I've been burning Marshmallow Fireside for just over a week and I've almost burned through it completely.  I have quite a stash of B&BW candles from the 2 for $20 sale they had in September.  There are a few holiday scents I want to try so I may get those later this month.

I ran into Ross-Simons to get my wedding set cleaned.  I normally take it somewhere else now (a family jeweler that I've known for years) but since I was there and that's where we purchased them they do it for free.  They needed it bad.  I'm going to need to get my rings re-dipped soon.  They are both white gold and are starting to yellow on the bottom-more so my wedding band than my engagement ring.

The main reason for my trip out there was Sephora.  I spent a lot of money but it was actually only $30 more than I had planned on spending so I was pleased with myself :-) I got an Urban Decay eyeshadow primer-I have the travel size from my Naked Palette and love it so I got the full size one so I can use the small one for travel only.  I purchased two things from NARS- the Laguna Bronzer and the Kalahari EyeShadow Duo.  I don't know how much I will use the bronzer during the fall/winter but I didn't mind getting now.  And I also went ahead and got the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette since they actually had it in stock.

Of course I've started making a list of other makeup items I want to try and there are still a few things from my last list that I need to purchase from Ulta.  I'm always looking for new makeup to try since I've just recently started wearing it on a regular basis.  What are your favorite makeup items??

Back to class today :-( I've also got to head over to the bookstore before class this morning to purchase a scantron for my lab practical tonight.  I'm glad it's Wednesday and I'll be home at a decent time.  I'm looking forward to the premiere of Nashville tonight-maybe I'll be able to stay awake for the entire thing.

XOXO,
Megan

Working

I started typing a blog this morning on CJ's health.  I had no clue it would take me so long to work on it or that it would be so long.  It should be up this afternoon at some point.

XOXO,

Fall Break

I'm so thankful that fall break is here!!! No school til Wednesday morning (no driving to school at least-I'll still be doing school work).

I had planned on working on some blog posts today to have ready to post but I won't be home much today as it turns out.  I'm going to go to lunch with a girlfriend after I pick up Hayden and then we'll run a few errands before bowling tonight.  Tomorrow I plan on running quite a few errands hopefully I can get everything done.  I need to go shoe shopping for some new boots-I found a shoe store that is supposed to have hard to fit feet.

In any event I will get some blog posts scheduled at some point this weekend-maybe Saturday :-)

I need to get my butt in gear and get a few more things done around the house before we head out for the day.  I'll be around more tomorrow :-)

Fall Swap Reveal!!

I got paired up with Jess from Pretty Physicist for The Fall Swap that Neely at A Complete Waste of Makeup hosted.  She sent me the cutest infinity scarf from Old Navy-with Red & Black for my Carolina Hurricanes. A cute little apple notebook with matching to-do list (I've already started writing blog ideas in the notebook.  Some cute black and white notecards which will come in handy I'm sure.  And some candy corn that my boys devoured before the end of the day (they appreciated the candy!!).  I'm so glad I participated in the swap and got to meet Jess.  Keep her in your thoughts as she heads in for surgery today! I'm also linking up with Chelsea @ Yours Truly for the Return the Favor Blog Hop :-)

So Close

Two more classes & then it's fall break!!!! So close I can taste it.  Even though I won't get to sleep in or go out of town like I really wanted I am looking forward to the break from school for a few days.  And by that I mean just from the process of going every day.  I am planning on getting caught up and ahead in my two online classes and trying to get some reading done for my biology class.  I also have two papers for my online classes due in November so I want to try to get those started or at least start researching them.

I just started my to-do list for break like the random things that need to be done: get my car inspected (which is past due as usual), open bank accounts for the boys (that has been on the to-do list for years), get some meals made up to freeze, and clean the house.  I have a bunch of errands that need to be done including a big grocery shopping (I've been so slack since CJ's family left!) Honestly fall break is coming at the perfect time-I haven't felt well for about two weeks-it's because I'm exhausted!!!

A girlfriend is going to take me out to lunch next week to celebrate my birthday (which is Sunday) and Sunday night we are doing our family birthday celebration.  We have 4 birthdays in 20 days on my side of the family & CJ's mom's birthday is in the mix as well which makes it a very expensive month for us!!

My face has been breaking out like crazy thanks to the stress my biology class has been causing me.  I feel confident that I did not bomb last nights test like I did the last one but I am not sure I actually passed :(

I am working on a list of blogs to write and post so if you have any suggestions please let me know! I do plan on posting a blog all about me :-)

Weekend

We had a fairly low-key weekend.  Saturday night we went out to dinner with my parents, brother, sister-in-law and some of their friends to celebrate my brother's birthday.  He turned 32 on Thursday.  This week we gear up for both my birthday and my dad's birthday (me on Sunday the 7th and Dad on Saturday the 13th).  I look forward to my cake every year (carrot cake the same as every year since my first birthday-homemade not store bought) but I am finally at the point where I can do without getting older :-) but I guess it's time to hit that part of life.

Yesterday I caught up on some laundry and picked up around the house.  Did a little bit of homework and studying (not near as much as I should have).  But I figure since I didn't feel well it was ok.  I do have another Biology test tonight that I need to do well on (since I'm currently failing the class courtesy of my 46 on the first test).  Thankfully the professor seem to take some of our complaints to heart and told us things we needed to know from one of the chapters-of course that still leaves two full chapters that we don't know what will be on the test.  I plan on studying the afternoon away when I get home from class this afternoon.

Fall Break starts after my Wednesday morning class (technically we are supposed to have Lab Wed. night but the schedule got messed up and there isn't actually one scheduled).  We have three baseball games this week (2 regular and one makeup) plus bowling Thursday night.  I can't wait to sleep in a little bit.  I don't plan on getting up at 5am Thurs/Fri since Hayden will be the only one at school.  Deq goes back Monday and I still don't plan on getting up at 5am!!
